There certainly seems to be a lot of data in this book: It is packed with reproductions of stone inscriptions and references to ancient texts. Based on his own unique translations of these texts, Sitchen argues that ancient astronauts visited our solar system aboard a "Twelfth Planet" whose orbit intersected with that of our own around the time of the ancient Sumarians.
We are at a disadvantage when evaluating this book: We do not read Sumarian or have access to the texts as Sitchen supposedly does. We don't have any background in Near East archeology, so Sitchen's arguments are lost on us. They sound reasonable but could be rubbish. We want to hear from an accredited archeologist who can at least confirm the soundness of Sitchin's underlying research. As it stands, Sitchen's account is like that of a modern UFO abductee: It sounds convincing, but we need further evidence. -- Glenn Campbell

Over the years, startling evidence has been unearthed revealing the existence of a superior race of beings who once inhabited our world. Travellers from the stars, they arrived eons ago -- and planted the genetic seed that would ultimately blossum into a remarkable species... called Man.
The product of thirty years of intesive research, THE 12TH PLANET is the first book in Zecharia Sitchin's controversial Earth Chronicles series -- a revolutionary body of work that offers indisputable documentary proof of humanity's extraterrestrial forefathers.
