Clark records the history of UFO theories, especially the ongoing conflict between the "extraterrestrial hypothesis" -- the claim the UFOs are operated by alien visitors -- and the "occult hypothesis", which supposes that UFOs are manifestations of other dimensions. UFO hypotheses are a human phenomenon: They have little to do with evidence, only psychology, and they evolve with society. This research report chronicals the major UFO theories since the beginning of the UFO phenomenon.
