Credibility 2 Low Research Value 4 High Cultural Interest 3 Moderate Visual Information 0 None Style 3 Functional Silliness 4 High Wow Factor 3 Interesting Bargain 3 Moderate Explanation of Ratings Credibility = Low: In general, this catagory is a rating of the author's intellectual discipline and the strength of his argument (which are low), not the veracity of his claims (which could be true in spite of the weak argument).

FUFOR suffered some criticism for funding this report. Stanton Friedman could hardly be called unbiased with regard to the alleged "MJ-12" documents. Friedman is almost alone among major ufologists in declaring the documents genuine. (Our own theory -- only half in jest -- is that some secret government agency designed and forged the documents especially for him.) In this report, Friedman starts from a dubious premise: that the burden of proof is on the skeptics to prove that the document is forgery, not on the believers to prove that it is real. Although we disagree with his philosophy, we still find Friedman's paper interesting. It includes a lot of data and a large appendix of correspondence and government documents. -- Glenn Campbell
