This is probably the best channeling book available, the closest thing there is to an encyclopedia on the topic. We have always regarded channeling as one of the silliest forms of psychic manifestation, where a person is "possessed" by angels, aliens or entities from other dimensions who speak through that person's mouth and usually offer various forms of New Age advice. What we like about this book is that it takes a fairly neutral, academic approach, recounting the history of channeling and the various claims that have been made. With so many wild claims being made, this book at least sorts them out, providing a sort of "Who's Who" of channeled entities and their mediums. The book appears to be rigorously footnoted and traces the various scientific and pseudo-scientific experiments that have been conducted. This is the first book to get if you are interested in any aspect of channeling, including the peculiar society surrounding it. Given the undisiplined nature of the subject matter -- in which anyone can claim to channel anything -- the book seems very down-to-earth. -- Glenn Campbell
