This is the Air Force's famous "parachute dummy" report, contending that no UFO crash took place near Roswell, only dummies dropped in parachute tests years later and miles away. (This connection seems as tenuous and speculative as any conspiracy treatise.) This report on the "Roswell bodies" supplements the AF's 1994 report claiming that a Project Mogul balloon accounted for the debris. Required reading for anyone interested in the Roswell story or Air Force history. The Air Force, unlike many ufologists, generally provides cross-references for its claims, and these may be more valuable than the report itself. This hefty government document was released in a Pentagon press conference just before the Roswell anniversary. Case closed? Not likely. Case confused? Definitely. -- Glenn Campbell

Government Contradiction I am amazed that you have no mention here of the book that this "official" Air Force release was meant to counteract: namely the book, "THE DAY AFTER ROSWELL" by Army Col. Philip J. Corso, (Ret.)WITH A FOREWORD BY A SITTING UNITED STATES SENATOR - SEN. STROM THURMOND !!!Moreover, since this book, "THE DAY AFTER ROSWELL" was released only shortly before this counterattack or "reply" by the US Air Force,then all that I can say is that is evidence of a government conspiracy and cover-up right there! So you really should mention that this "official" US Air Force book was released as "damage control" in 'reply' to the previously published book by Col.Corso & Sen.Thurmond! -- BHIMARAMA 6/25/98 (#1)
