"Book One: A Briefing on the Phenomenon." ¶ We've been leafing through this strange little book for a while now, trying to figure it out. It claims to be a briefing document for mental health professionals, but we can't imagine any reputable ones ever knowing it exists, let alone reading it. To get any attention, a book for mental health professionals ought to be written by one of them, by someone who at least speaks the lingo. John Mack or Richard Boylan might be able to do it, but the authors of this book seem out of their depth and confused about their aims. The book touts its "UFO Matrix of Belief," a simple one-page classification system for describing what people believe about UFOs. We find it interesting, but we question its value for diagnosis or therapy. ¶ It is easier to be charitable if we disregard the book's title and stated purpose. This book is more a "UFO sampler" -- little random bits of this and that taken from the internet, current events and popular literature. We found some of the tidbits useful when building the relationships section of our website, but we can't recommend the book to casual readers. There is not much here that you can't find for free on the web, and this book isn't any better organized. -- Glenn Campbell
