"Religiosity" is a measure of a person's religious fervor,
regardless of content of the beliefs themselves.
This page is concerned with how people of high religiosity
differ from the rest of the population.
¶This thesis examined the influence that religiosity, age, and gender has on death anxiety. Three hypotheses dealing with death anxiety and coping mechanisms were explored in this thesis. Using Collett-Lester's Fear of Death Scale to measure death anxiety, and Glock and Stark's Dimensions of Religious Commitment to measure religiosity, it was hypothesized that females will have higher death anxiety than males, (2) the higher the level of religiosity, the lower the death anxiety, and (3) older people (55+) will have higher death anxiety than younger people (18-25).
