For Hungarian UFO enthusiasts, Roswell is another world

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) If the famous Roswell aliens were nothing but
dummies in U.S. Air Force parachute tests, word hasn't reached Budapest
yet.

In a cavernous sports and concert hall shrouded in semi-darkness,
organizers on Saturday opened what they claim is one of the world's
biggest exhibits on UFOs and extraterrestrials.

The Roswell story figures prominently in the displays, but visitors
said they hadn't heard of the U.S. Air Force report in June that seeks
to debunk the belief that the government covered up a UFO crash in
1947.

Even if nothing happened there, said Robert Szuecs, author of a book on
Roswell, that doesn't prove there aren't any UFOs or aliens.

With admission of $3.75 for adults and $2 for kids, the exhibit is
pricey by Hungarian standards the average worker here makes $300 a
month.

One visitor, Istvan Demeter, was less than thrilled. "Let's just say
this exhibition would not convince me," he said. But his 9-year-old
son, Istvan, Jr., who clutched a souvenir Martian doll, was in awe.

"We're coming back tomorrow!" he declared. "No, we're not," his father
answered.
