My two cents on the broadcast: In my opinion, Jim Wilson looked like a complete fool when he stated that Area 51 had closed up: - He stated that he driven out to the base and came to a locked gate and "...there was nothing there". Video footage shown both before and after this statement clearly showed the boundary's markers, signs, cammo dudes and sensors/cameras, etc. If there is no base, why the "Deadly Force Authorized" signs and guards etc? In the same vein, Glenn's interview and the Janet flight footage were very credible evidence of current base activity. - He also stated that the number of "incidents" (i.e. odd sounds, sonic booms, UFO or other visual sightings, etc.) had dropped off near the area. This statement was not supported by the rest of the footage and interviews of people who lived near the base. - The commentator stated that nuclear radiation from previous UNDERGROUND (emphasis mine) nuclear explosions were migrating to the surface (stated while an above-ground nuclear explosion was being shown). While several above-ground nuclear explosions, or the 1957 plutonium containment tests, may have (and probably did) deposit nuclear fallout on the surface of A-51, there were certainly no underground nuclear explosions in the A-51 "box". Furthermore, I am not aware of any articles, scientific or not, on the mechanisms of properly contained underground nuclear explosion debris migrating up to the surface. If anyone else is, please provide the URL or other reference. - The discussion on the lawsuit brought for former Groom Lake workers, the narration by their lawyer, and especially the Executive Order 95-45 signed by Bill Clinton were pretty credible evidence that the Government has current activities they want to keep hidden. Like Glenn, I believe the Discovery Channel show let everyone make up their own minds. I disagree with another reviewer's comments in that I am glad there wasn't an on-air disagreement, argument or even discussion on whether or not the base is still active. I think what was shown pretty well made Jim Wilson, and by extension his magazine, look like an idiot.
