The April 25 NTS tour itinerary has been finalized.
Basically, we'll be going EVERYWHERE on the Test Site: From Jackass
Flats to Pahute Mesa. It is probably one of the most ambitious Test
Site tours that has been attempted by common earthlings. The tradeoff,
however, is that we'll spend most of the time on the bus, since we
have to keep going to cover so much ground. When we do get off the
bus, we'll have to hustle to get off and on quickly.
Whatever is out there on the Test Site, we'll probably be visiting it,
driving past it or at least seeing it from within close range. Only
Area 27 (the old device assembly area) seems completely off limits. We
also won't be able to visit the 700 gate to Area 51 but we'll be able
to see the gate from the EPA farm. We will drive the full loop road
on Pahute Mesa and will get close to the Tweezer facility and the
new Device Assembly building.
The only major tourist spot we will not be visiting is the command
center at CP-1, since most people on our tour have already been there,
and getting in and out takes too much time.
I will email you the exact itinerary as soon as I have it, in about a
week.
The tour will depart from the Highland Ave office of DOE at 6:45 am.
That means you need to be there at 6:30 am at the latest for badging,
earlier if possible. The tour will probably last until after dark. It
is essentially a full day of driving with only brief stops.
Since our group has a "reputation" and requires special supervision,
our tour guide will be none other than the Big Guy, Darwin Morgan, who
heads DOE public affairs in NV. He doesn't normally conduct tours
personally, so this is indeed an honor.
Cameras, binoculars, tape recorders, cell phones and any other optical
or electronic devices are forbidden. However, Darwin will have a
camera for group shots and will give us the film. Pens and notebooks
are not forbidden, and you are encouraged to do your own research on
the Test Site before you come. (The Research Center sells Matt
Coolidge's Nevada Test Site guide, which is very useful. See
www.ufomind.com/catalog/n/nts)
Aside from a five minute break at Mercury, there will be NO SERVICES
on this trip. You must bring your own lunch and drinks to last you 12
hours, and we will eat it sitting on the ground in some Godforsaken
nuclear wasteland (probably on Pahute Mesa). The bus is equipped with
a toilet.
I am still collating the personal info for people before submitting it
to DOE. If you haven't sent me your SS#, etc., please do. I'll get
back to people if any of their data is missing. Also, if you find you
can't go, please let me know ASAP so I can open up your place to
someone else. We will have a full bus.
If you receive this message and have already cancelled, please let me
know, too, so I can remove you from the email list.
Details on how to get to the Highland office will follow. (This is
not the main DOE office in North Las Vegas.) Please call me sometime
before the date of the tour. I'd like to talk to everyone at least
once to make sure we don't have any wires crossed.
