The other day I picked up a copy a "High Powered Rocketry", something I
hadn't looked at in quite a while. I noted they were again launching in
California, and listed the dates. I also noted a lot of web sites were
around for more info. Here's a list of some of the local info for future
weekend fun and games. If you haven't been to one of these, they're really
pretty amazing. These are not "toy" rockets.

-------------------------------------------
Lucerne Dry Lake in Lucerne Valley (Rocketry Organization of California):

September 12
October 10
November 13-15
December 12

Normally they have clearance to launch to 5,300' AGL, but the 11/13-15 date
has windows to 10,000', as well as planned night launches.

Also at Lucerne Dry Lake is a group called the Lucerne Test Range and they
launch there the first weekend of each month.

-------------------------------------------------
San Jacinto, CA (Hemet Valley Rocket Club):

They launch 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in the fields behind the Saboba Casino with
clearance to 6,000' AGL.

Their next launch in Sunday Aug. 16th.
Check web site for future dates.

--------------------------------------------
Las Vegas (Tripoli Vegas):

They usually shoot at El Dorado Dry Lake which is about 20 miles southeast
of Las Vegas, on the west side of Hwy 95, a few miles south of the turn off
to Boulder City. The launch listed for Delamar (east of Alamo) is unusual,
as they typically get a clearance to 100,000', and make pretty good use of it.

August 22
September 19-20 (at Delamar Dry lake)
October 17
November 28-29
December 19
