OUR REVIEW:
An interesting collection of UFO cases from the beginning of the
phenomenon to the present day. The style is similar to Above Top
Secret, but the content is entirely new. Most of these cases were
originally reported in obscure publications and would have been
forgotten had Good not rediscovered them. Don't expect any major
revelations (like earth being used as an alien base, as the title
implies), but do expect a lot of interesting cases you haven't heard
of before. The reporting, as usual, is refreshingly neutral, with lots
of references provides. -- (c) Glenn Campbell
Reservations
The title is relatively meaningless. A more accurate one would be
Above Top Secret: The Sequel. (While Beyond Top Secret could be called
Above Top Secret: The Director's Cut.)
We must import this title from England, hence the higher than usual
price.

INFORMATION FROM THE PUBLISHER (Always supportive)
From the Book Cover
Alien Base is the world's most authoritative and comprehensive account
of alien visitation in the twentieth century. This culmination of
nearly forty years' research by the bestselling author on the subject
includes revelations that for the first time offer an in-depth
understanding of this diverse, bewildering and at times bizarre range
of phenomena.
New evidence from Timothy Good's files include:
-- The most impressive ever collection of photographs of
alien craft
-- The first convincing photographs of aliens
-- Retrievals of alien craft and bodies predating Roswell
-- Cases involving repairs carried out to grounded craft
-- New stories of worldwide encounters with aliens
(1920-1997)
-- Unidentified submarine objects reported by naval
observers
-- Sensational new ancounters reported by military and
civilian pilots
-- Remarkable new cases involving space-time distortion
-- Witnessed animal mutilations
-- New cases of the Men in Black
-- Sensational stories of visits to alien bases
Alien Base represents nearly forty years' research by Timothy Good
into claims of encounters with extraterrestrials. Whereas his
bestselling books Above Top Secret, Alien Liaison and Beyond Top
Secret concentrate on the worldwide involvement of the intelligence
community in UFO research, sightings by witnesses such as military and
civilian pilots, and the recovery of alien vehicles, Alien Base
concentrates on worldwide reports of actual encounters with
extraterrestrial beings. Timothy Good, one of the world's leading
authorities, shows that there is a hard core of such cases which
cannot easily be dismissed.
Nowadays, stories of abductions by small, bug-eyed beings have become
fashionable. This has led to an unbalanced perspective. In redressing
the balance, Timothy Good shows that reports of this particular alien
species appeared relatively recently, and that descriptions of
extraterrestrial beings are far more diverse than we suppose. He
recounts, for example, numerous stories of the so-called 'contactees',
who described encounters with human-appearing aliens, some dating back
as far as 1920, many of which are from his own unpublished files, and
presents evidence that some of these represent convincing evidence of
actual, physical contact.
Alien Base includes a great deal of sensational new material,
including reports of unidentified flying objects - as well as of
unidentified submarine objects - reported by pilots and naval
observers. Also revealed are cases involving alien vehicles grounded
for repairs, as well as recoveries of alien vehicles by US military
forces, well before the so-called Roswell incident.
Alien Base is the first book to make sense of the bewildering
diversity of alien species that have been reported. Timothy Good
concludes that Earth is being visited by a number of different alien
species - some of whom have established bases here on Earth. While
many encounters have been benign, others have led to mental and
physical trauma, mysterious disappearances, and even death.
Written by a researcher recognized internationally tor his objective
and unsensational approach to this complex and multi-disciplinary
subject, Alien Base provides a unique insight into Earth's most
enduring enigma.
About the Author
Born in London in 1942, Timothy Good first became interested in UFOs
in 1955, when his passion for aviation and spaceflight led him to read
a book by Major Donald Keyhoe detailing sightings by highly qualified
observers such as military and civilian pilots. Now regarded as a
leading authority, he has researched the subject worldwide,
interviewing key witnesses and amassing a wealth of evidence,
including several thousand declassified intelligence documents.
Timothy Good has given lectures on UFOs at universities, schools, and
to many organizations, including IBM, the Institute of Medical
Laboratory Sciences, the Royal Canadian Military Institute, the Royal
Naval Air Reserve Branch, Shell, the House of Lords All-Party UFO
Study Group, and the Oxford and Cambridge Union Societies. He has
acted as associate producer for a number of television documentaries
on the subject and is known to millions worldwide through his numerous
television appearances.
Timothy Good's first book, Above Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO
Cover-up (1987), became an instant bestseller, and is regarded by many
as the definitive book on the subject, together with the fully revised
edition which replaces it, Beyond Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO
Security Threat (Macmillan, 1996), which remained for five weeks on
the Sunday Times bestseller list. Alien Liaison: The Ultimate Secret
(Century, 1991) spent thirteen weeks on the same bestseller list. He
has also edited a number of books on the subject, including the
bestselling Alien Update (Arrow, 1993).
Timothy Good is also a professional freelance violinist, and played
with the London Symphony Orchestra for fourteen years. Nowadays he is
involved with music for feature films, television dramas and
commercials, and recordings with pop musicians. His hobbies include
photography, and he has several record sleeve photos to his credit.
