Vegas has been added to our Janet section.
- 2/10, 9pm: There's a new Number One in
our Las Vegas Buffet Guide.
Rio -- Village Seafood Buffet -
One of the two Rio buffets. Three days after its
opening, this all-seafood buffet has moved immediately to our number one
spot, at least until the novelty wears off or the place closes down, which
we think is financially inevitable. This buffet is separate from Rio's
other world class facility, the Carnival Buffet. The seafood buffet is
located at the other end of the casino in the new Mardi Gras Village, an
indoor New Orleans style theme attraction. It's all seafood, all the time,
in stunning variety and very, very fresh. I am told there are salt water
tanks in the basement where they keep some of the entrees flown in from the
ocean, to be dispatched only on the day of consumption....
- 2/10, 5pm:
Hungary's "Color UFO"
(Színes UFO) magazine is now online -- in Hungarian.

[Added to UFO Research in Hungary]

- 2/8, 6pm:
The Add-a-Link page has been updated for all index pages.
See this
example from our new
Practice Page.
The Practice Page gives you an opportunity to play with the
comment and link system without doing any damage to existing pages.
Three new fields have been added to the link record:
Document length, document type and document tone (supportive,
critical, neutral). This will make more sense when you
play with the link page.
- 2/8, 4pm:
The change dates of less active pages are now displayed directly
on our main Guide to Knowledge page,
including the total number of ufologists.
- 2/7, 9pm:
The assignment of categories to most ufologists is
complete. Each Ufologist Page
now includes links back to related topics, while
Topic Pages contain links back to ufologists.
The number of links currently available for each topic
or ufologist is printed on the maint index page for each.
(These numbers are updated every evening.)
- 2/7, 8pm:
Web Philosophy of the Research Center
has been updated on our organization page.
This site is intended as the "memory" of the UFO community. In the
various paranormal,
philosophical and other unconfirmable topics we like to cover, you
may not know what to
believe, but at least you can find out what has already been explored.
Researchers shouldn't have
to hunt for existing documents or repeat the same basic searches and
inquiries that others have
done before. If you do some research, even if it leads to a dead end,
you should linkyour results
to the appropriate place in this database. Researchers can then take
advantange of a sort of
collective intelligence that never forgets its past mistakes.
That's why we call our site "Ufomind."
- 2/5, 8pm:
The major pieces of software for our UFO database are now in place.
There will be a lot of fine tuning and enhancements, but the
most difficult programming is over.
Now the challenge is to build the database,
adding ufologists, assigning topics to them and adding links to
pages.
We encourage our users to participate, using the
various editing screens given.
The main task for the moment is assigning topics to ufologists,
which can be done on each of their pages.
See our redesigned Ufologists page
for starting points.
Look for people with "0 categories" and try to
figure out what categories they fit into.
Ufologists are cross referenced by topic, group, media and cases.
Topic pages include lists of ufologists in that field.
On every page, events, places, relationships and general links
can be added. The possibilities for indexing and preserving
UFO knowledge are tremendous, although we expect the system
to take a few months to catch on.
Our government handlers will be pleased with this!
- 2/4, 8pm:
System enhancements.
- Links added to any of our index pages are now automatically displayed
on the What's New page. The latest
15 are recorded here, and an additional 100 appear on a supplemental page.
- Topics can now be assigned to ufologists based on the
headings found on the main UFO page.
You can assign topic, media and case names to a person.
The topic headings appear on that person's link page, and
clicking on them takes you to that topic's page.
For example, John Mack's
primary topic is
Abduction & Contact.
Art Bell's
media link is
Radio.
Glenn Campbell's
geographic link is
Area 51.
Since most ufologists don't yet have topics assigned,
idle users are encouraged to add them.
Soon, an automatic link-back feature will be added to
list the relevant ufologists on each topic page.
- Relationships with others can now be defined on each
ufologist page. For example,
Chris Carter,
Fox Mulder and
Dana Scully are all
related to each other.
- Mulder and Scully can now be listed in our database,
becuase we have create a category for
"Hypothetical Characters" -- for purely fictional
characters or people that we know about only through a single
ufologist's claims.
See the
Add Ufologist page
for more information.
- A new option to specific language (English, German, etc.) has been
added to the Add-a-Link section of our index pages.
If the linked web page is not in English, the link is labelled
with the language.
Thus, we can now feel comfortable accepting links to pages in
any language (although our index pages will continue
to be in English).
With a few more pieces added, we'll have a sophisticated
database system in place, capable of indexing just about everything
in the UFO field, including people, links, cases, even print
references.
The idea is based on Yahoo, but with a lot of enhancements
tailored to the peculiar needs of ufology.
- 2/4, 6pm:
In the link system at the bottom of our index pages,
NEW! is automatically added
to links that are less than 15 days old.
See UFO Sightings
for an example.
- 2/4, 6pm:
We despise Java normally, but
this amusing saucer scene*
has our attention.
- 2/4, 5pm:
The Sensible Observer
has been updated to include some preliminary answers to philosophical
questions submitted by users.
Future questions will be added to the page immediately,
with answers coming whenever the guru has the time.
- 2/3, 5pm:
Robert Gigler of Anchorage, Alaska, has added
this comment to the bottom of our Area 51 page:
Glen Campbell hung up on me when i called him in l0s
AS I IDENTIFIED MYSELF BUT BEFORE HE DID HE SAID STOP vegas sunday
morning after he said stop spreading
SPREADING DISINFORMATION ABOUT AREA 51 AND THE ALIEN vegas i think
he has some kind of mental problem like
i think bob lazar has been programed by aliens
DOWN LOADED YOURE ENTIRE Data base system onto a c disk
We're worried about Our Director,
who does not deny that he hung up on Gigler.
What kind of mental illness would prompt him to do such a
thing?
And what does Gigler mean by "called him in the 10s"?
Apparently, that's a ten-call
set. In a lengthy series of messages on
our answering machine Gigler has promised to
come to Las Vegas, find Campbell
and set him straight on the alien brainwashing
question -- certainly a cause for concern.
He'll never find our wily Director, though, since Campbell
has gone into hiding and has surrounded himself with HUNDREDS OF
GUNS in a bunker somewhere in the desert.
The only person at Campbell's Las Vegas residence is the
anonymous webmaster, who doesn't know anything and will try his best
to direct Gigler to
Campbell's whereabouts.
- 2/2, 12pm:
New page for Disputed Credentials -
Ufologists who have lied about their educational or background claims,
apart from their claims about UFOs.
- 2/2, 10am:
Another claimed government insider has surfaced with
a new book, as reported in the mailing list.
- "Project
Preserve Destiny" by Claimed Gov't Insider
Spending 12 years in the United States Air Force, D.L. Sherman became
deeply involved in one of the most classified projects in military history.
His involvement was more than just a military assignment, it was his life.
He and a handful of others were chosen before they were even conceived
in the womb (in cooperation with the US government), to be genetically
altered for the purposes of being able to "intuitively communicate" with an
alien race whom our government has been in contact with since 1947.
- 2/2, 9am:
Out
Investigation of Frank Stranges' educational credentials
cannot find his claimed

Interesting Page on T. Townsend
Brown*,
the physicist whose work with electrogravitic propulsion systems
is now the basis for many UFO propulsion theories.
The site, which was authorized by the family,
has many pictures of Brown and offers his patents and papers for sale.
Added to our T. Townsend Brown links page.
