This server provide a standardized indexing system for documents and relationships for individual researchers, witnesses and organizations. These pages provide a forum where credibility can be tested and personalities deduced. The aim is to establish a "track record" for each individual so that both their accomplishments and their deceptions are not forgotton. These pages also provide starting points for investigations into each person's work or the cases they are associated with. No page is ever expected to be "complete" or exhaustive; each is only expected to provide starting points for further research and to highlight documents that might reflect on a person's crediblity.
Our page for a researcher or organization is not intended to replace their own home page or specialized subject pages created by others. Ours is different because it allows both supporters and opponents to post links. Think of this site as the card catalog in a library; it provides access to information but does not tell you how to use it. The page on our server does not "belong" to the person, and we do not expect their approval. They are free to post their own links to their page, however -- so long as their entries and changes are consistent with the standards that other users must obey.
Each page is "user maintained" and is complete only to the extent that web users choose to add links and relationships to it. We prefer not to provide server storage for documents. We only provide links to existing documents already on the web. The webmaster may add links like any other user, but we accept no obligation to "maintain" these pages, only to correct technical errors when they are brought to our attention. We make no guarantee whatsoever about the accuracy of the documents linked to our pages, but we do provide a forum for others to respond.
No attempt is made by the webmaster to evaluate the validity of a document. Instead, we provide an opportunity for any interested parties to have their say. If a document posted is false or misleading, we encourage any informed party to post a rebuttal. Ideally, this reply should be stored on the server of the person who wrote it, but we will usually provide server space for rebuttals if asked to do so and no other server space is available.
The people listed on these pages are "public figures" in paranormal fields. What defines a public figure will be refined over time, but the most basic criteria is that ther are already multiple existing documents about this person on the web or in print. (Otherwise, there is no sense in creating an index for them.) Anyone can suggest a new person to add, but the webmaster has the final say about whether inclusion is justified.
For the sake of this index, an organization is considered a "person" like any other, usually filed by their acronym (treated as their last name). Only "established" organizations are listed -- those that have developed a history of their own.
People may be linked to each other and to specific topics through the editing screen for each person. Anyone can make changes here, subject only to later approval by the webmaster for each change.
