Goals and Policies
I. Focus.
The Area 51 Research Center is a publisher and distributor of information in certain core areas relating to Area 51 and neighboring government facilities. Our database covers these specific areas...
- Military activities in Nevada.
- UFO topics relating to Nevada.
- The work and record of prominent North American UFO researchers, with a focus on data reflecting on their personality and credibility.
- The geography of Southern Nevada and the Mojave Desert.
- Selected areas in philosophy, psychology and other human fields that might aid the investigation of ambiguous phenomena.
At present, these are the only areas in which we will attempt to be exhaustive. We will create web pages on other topics only on a limited basis to suit specific interests or needs.
In general, we do not actively collect information on....
- UFO cases or sightings outside Nevada, except where they reflect on the personality or credibility of UFO researchers.
- UFO researchers who are no longer alive
- Historical and breaking UFO Cases
- UFO topics with no clear link to Area 51 (abductions, crop circles, Roswell, etc.).
- Military facilities and topics with no clear link to Area 51.
- The technical details of military hardware.
In general, we focus on human organizations, activities and personalities rather than hardware. For example, if there are secret airplanes at Area 51, we are more interested in the organization that operates them than the craft themselves. Likewise, our interest in UFOs and aliens is mostly limited to their potential human impact and the personalities involved in the search for them.
II. Funding
The Research Center is wholly owned by Glenn Campbell. Although it is a private company, no profit is expected.
The Research Center will be supported (eventually) by sales of books, maps and other products relating to our core interests.
The Research Center is selective in its product line and only sells products "we would buy ourselves." The Research Center intends to build a reputation for integrity and intelligent judgment in its choice of products. If we do not have 100% confidence in the value of a product, our reservations will be clearly stated in our on-line catalog.
The Research Center was started in 1993 and has operated at a loss since then. Until it becomes self-supporting, the Research Center is funded by Glenn Campbell, solely at his discretion.
III. Copyright on Our Own Work
- Most of the index pages and original documents in our web structure are copyrighted
and may be reproduced only for personal use.
Our primary goal here is to prevent another individual or
company from claiming our work as their own
and deriving a financial benefit from it.
We also want these pages to be stored only on a single site
so that future corrections and updates can be easily made.
- You are free to link to any document in our web structure at its existing location.
No permission is required, and you do not need to inform us that you are making the link.
