It is now much easier to edit existing link entries on the Ufomind system. You can now see the entries you are changing and can directly modify the preexisting text. The Change-Link option at the bottom of all index pages has been rewritten. It now first asks for an entry number, then it reads in that existing entry for editing in the regular Add-Link screen. There is no more guessing about whether you have the right field and no need to retype the existing text to make a minor change. Other improvements... -- The page headers were removed from the Add-Link and Change-Link screens to make them load faster. -- After a change is made, the index page is no longer redisplayed automatically -- again to improve speed. At the bottom of the Add-Link and Change-Link screens, you now have the option of a simple response screen (the default), reloading of the index page or reloading of the Add-Link screen for a new entry. -- The simple response screen includes an option to change another entry, so you can quickly change entries in series. -- On the Add-Link and Change-Link screens, a new field has been added beside the author for the author's "file code". If the author of this document already exists in our people database, then you can enter his file code (usually his last name) instead of his full name. His full name will then be automatically inserted in the author field, and the final displayed entry will include a link to that person's page. -- The person's file code is now displayed on the second line of their people page. -- A new screen has been created to report bad links. It is now available at the bottom of every index page. To report a bad link, the user just has to type in the entry number. But that isn't all this screen is good for. It also gives the user the opportunity to request that an entry be moved -- either from one page to another or shifted within a page. A third option allows an entry to be copied to another page without deleting in in the current one. Finally, you can request that a page be given a "Webmaster's Choice" designation. (Currently a red star beside the entry.) These changes are not made immediately, but are first queued to me for approval. (It only takes me a few seconds to complete once I get to it in my email queue.) The new system is significant improvement, and once you are used to it, you can make a lot of changes very quickly. The easiest way to work with it is to keep two windows open on your desktop: one to show the index page and the other to show whatever editing screen you are working with. BTW: I now call the site "Ufomind-Mothership", as of 7/15. Either term will do.
