Several new features in the add-link and change-link screens make it easier to edit a series of link entries without having to wait for intermediate screens. To experiment with any of these features, see the practice page at www.ufomind.com/org/practice EDIT ANOTHER ENTRY ON SAME PAGE "Next Page Shown" at the bottom of the add-link and change-link screens now has an option to immediately edit another link on the same page. If you check this option, the next screen you see will be an editing screen for the entry number you specify. In the change-link screen, the number of the next entry in sequence is automatically inserted as the next entry number, but you can change it to any valid entry number on the page. (In the add-link screen, you have to enter a number.) EDIT ENTRY ON ANOTHER PAGE If you want to add or edit an entry on another page, select "Simple Notice" on the current page. The next page then gives you the option to change an entry on this or any other index page on the server. (If you want to add a new link to a page other than the current one, select "Add a New Link" for this page, and then change the destination page at the bottom of the resulting input screen.) MORE FLEXIBLE CHANGE-LINK SCREEN The initial change-link page now allows you to enter a file name in addition to an entry number, so you can now change an entry on any page without having to display it first. INITIALS (FYI only.) On the change-link page, your initials are automatically inserted in the initials field if your internal host number matches the host that made the last entry. Thus, if you change an entry several times in the same session, you probably will not have to re-enter your initials. However, if you log-off from the internet and then come back later, the host routing will probably change. The change-link screen will see you at a different host address and will blank out the initials field. You will then have to re-enter it. INITIALS NOW REQUIRED The initials field is now required. You cannot save a new or changed link without entering it. (Although "anon" is acceptable.) LIST OF ENTRIES Another Feature: If you enter no entry number, either in the starting change-link screen or in the "Next Page Displayed" section), then the system will display a handy list of all links on the page, listed by their number. So if you can't remember what I link number is, just leave the field blank. RECIPROCAL LINKS The system now provides an easy mechanism to link two index pages together in both directions. First, go into the add-link screen for one of the pages and type in an entry leading to the other. Then, before you save the entry, select "Add/Change Reciprocal Link" at the bottom of the add-link page. The system will create the new link in the other direction and immediately display a change-link screen so you can fine-tune it. Attempting to create a reciprocal link to a non-Ufomind page or a page that does not accept links will have no effect. The system is also smart enough not to create a reciprocal link if one already exists in the destination page. In that case, the system will display a change-link screen for the existing entry. Reciprocal links can be created for existing entries by selecting the same option at the bottom of any change-link screen.
