From: campbell@ufomind.com (Glenn Campbell, Las Vegas) Date: Wed, 25 Jun 1997 23:28:38 -0800 Subject: New mechanism to move fields from page to page |
A new mechanism is now in place to quickly move link entries from one
page to another or to move them around within a page. For now, only I
can make these changes, but it takes me only a matter of seconds if
you give me the right instructions.
To move a link entry, send me an email message in this form....
ACTION: Move
PAGE: http://www.ufomind.com/ufo/topic/nazi/
LINKNUM: 5
DEST: http://www.ufomind.com/ufo/place/us/nm/roswell/
In this case, you are asking me to move entry #5 on the "Nazi UFOs"
page to the "Roswell Incident" page.
Here are commands you can use in the ACTION line....
Move = Copy and delete an entry from one page and insert it at the end
of another.
-- DEST is the destination page. Entries are always added to end.
Copy = Copy an entry from one page and insert it at the end
of another. (Same as Move but does not delete the original
entry.)
-- LINKNUM is required. LINKNUM can be a parent or child entry:
5 or 5.4. If a parent is specified, all of its children are
copied also.
-- DEST is the destination page. Entries are always added to end.
Kill = Delete entry entirely. Both file and link number are required.
Shift = Move the specified entry to a new location in the same
page, shifting other entries down.
-- DEST field is a number....
8 = Inserts this entry immediately before entry #8 and
shifts the rest up
8.0 = Inserts the entry as the last child to entry #8.
8.3 = Inserts this entry as a child of #8, immediately
before entry #8.3, and shifts the rest up
Number = Renumber the entries on the entire page
LINKNUM is required for all of these commands. It can specify a
parent or child entry (e.g. 5 or 5.4). If a parent is specified,
all of its children are affected as well. (For example, if #5
is moved, so is #5.1, $5.2, #5.3, etc.)
Notes:
-- If you can't figure out these commands, just describe what you want
to do in English, and I will translate.
-- The entry number is the small number inside the <> for each link
entry.
-- Once I receive this request from you, I review it for content, then
simply forward it to my server by email. My server knows what to do,
and makes the change immediately.
-- All changes have to pass through me, since this is the only way I
can moderate them. Once the email message is sent to the server, it is
difficult to reverse. Someday, I may give our most trusted
contributors the ability to send the server messages directly.
