The "Source URL" field on the on the Add-link page is intended only to insert the "parent page" of the document you are linking to, in cases where you could not otherwise find a parent page. For example, if you are linking directly to a .jpg or .gif, you can use the Source URL to link to the page or website that "owns" these pictures. The same would be done for a .txt file that has no links to its parent. Another example: The main link leads to a reprinted article from the Las Vegas Sun stored on a third party's site. The "Source URL" can then be the Sun's own web site, even if the article itself can no longer be found there. You should NOT provide a Source URL when the page you are linking to already contains a link back to its parent (usually in the form of a "Return to Home Page" link at the bottom). The Source URL field is not the place to insert a link to additional information or a response. For this, you should use supplemental links. If the contents of the "Source URL" field are not truly useful, I will usually remove the URL because it creates visual clutter.
