How to find AP news stories

Associated Press news stories are a rich source of information on all manner of current affairs and social phenomena. However, they are copyrighted, so we must avoid directly reproducing them on our website. There is also no way (that we know of) to directly link to an AP article at a stable URL, so when you want to find a past article, you will have to search for it.

To search for a recent article, first try searching the Las Vegas Sun, which retain AP stories for several months. The search is fast and access is free. (Other newspapers may offer the same sort of archive.)

For older articles (back to July 1997), you will have to access the AP website. Start on The Wire and select "Search" from the upper right corner. There is no charge for the search, which provides the title, date and first paragraph, but there is a charge to retrieve the full article.
