Justice At Last
Federal Judge Susan Weber's dismissal of the Paula Jones case is a
triumph for the President, long battered by the highly-publicized false and
scurrilous charges. In her decision, Judge Weber, a Republican appointed by
President Bush, characterized the Jones case as utterly without merit. Most
legal commentators say that this decision also undermines Kenneth Starr's
investigation-turned-witchhunt against the President as well.
Several lessons can be drawn from this dirty and failed campaign
against Mr. Clinton. Greedy and scheming women making false and sensationalized
claims of sexual misconduct against a prominent figure in an attempt to extort
large cash settlements is a much more common occurrence than some of the public
would like to believe. The use of such scheming women as pawns by cynical
manipulative government power brokers behind the scenes is also a reality that
the naive portion of the public needs to be aware of.
Judge Susan Weber's decision provides an opportunity for all those who
posted disparaging remarks about the President's alleged behavior, based on the
discredited lies of the Jones "case". Will those persons now have the integrity
and decency to post a retraction of their hasty judgments? For now it is their
behavior which is under judgment. Will they pass the test of common decency?
Time will tell.
