Dispatches from Richard Boylan
From: "Richard J. Boylan, Ph.D."Subject: Invitation to Lakota/Dakota Sundances Date: Sat, 19 Jun 1999 11:10:02 -0700 STANDING ELK INVITES ALL OF GOOD HEART TO TWO LAKOTA SUNDANCES The White Buffalo Calf Woman The first appearance of the White Buffalo Calf Woman was 16,000 years ago. Many beleive she appeared in the early 1600's, maybe that was her last appearance. There is a difference in her first and last. In any case, my claims are made from the teachings of our ceremonies and are backed by our tiospaye and the Altar of the Tahca Wicasa. Author Frances Densmore's "Teton Music" relates the story of the White Buffalo Calf Woman which is questionable. We have been taught not to accept anything that does not correspond to the knowledge of the Altar. Some translations have failed and have altered the sacredness of the story. Lakota is a very intelligent sacred language and it is all spirit and heart. English is really many languages mixed in one and has many negative words that can alter the true translations. There are many constellations that have been hidden over the centuries. There are 22 hidden constellations that we know that are not shared with the general public. Many spirit astologers know of this, but they are happy and content with the western zodiac and the basics that have been introduced. The Zodiac is not really precisioned information. The largest constellation is: The Constellation of the White Buffalo Calf Woman. Her presence is that of the Sirius, Orion, Taurus and Pleiades Constellation and Star Systems. Pleiades is her head and Sirius is her feet. The White Buffalo Calf Woman is one of Seven Sisters of Pleiades. The sisters are White Buffalo Calf Woman, (Wicahpi To Wi) Blue Star Woman, (Wagmiza Waste Wi), Corn Woman (Lady of Guadalupe), ( Wicahpi Luta Waste Wi), Red Star Woman, (Keya Waste Wi), Turtle Woman, (Wicahpi Sa Waste Wi), White Star Woman, and the Divine Mother, Mary. The Seven Sisters have always been a part of the legends, stories, and myths of the Indigenous Nations. this is the first time the names of the Sisters are being shared. The influences of the White Buffalo Calf Women is in the number seven. The Seven Rites of the Sacred Pipe was shared with the world by Black Elk. So the teachings of the Seven Rites of the Canupa are Star Knowledge presented to the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota nations by the Pleiadian Sister,White Buffalo Calf Woman. On of the seven rites of the Canupa is the Sundance. There are many Medicine people that have been instructed to start Sundances in their circles. There are many circles now across Turtle Island that Sundance. So these following Sundance circles are invited those that share the same dream and vision. He worked with all nations of people, Black, Red, Yellow and White. Helping people was his gift. There were many miracles and cures such as cancer, mental and emotional problems, through his ceremonal ways. The Canupa Wicohan was and is his life here and beyond. When he crossed over. he left his beautiful wife Pam, and two young daughter who miss him terribly. In his earlier years, Steve worked as a Captain on the Minicoujou Tribal Police in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. The Spirit asked him to leave his financial secured job to help pray for the peoples of the Sacred Directions. He often stated that he knew that he was giving up a financial situation that could benefit his family, instead he quit the police force and became a servant to mankind. He surrendered to his Grandfathers and did the work. He depended on the people to help him with his family. He was looking forward to Sundancing again. Steve was preparing the Sundance arbor and was expecting 80 sundancers this year. The sundancers said they are continuing with their committments. I personally want to ask those of you that can afford the energy, to help his family with energy, for food, heat, clothing, and help with a small token for their electrical and utility bills. I will greatly appreciate this gesture and I know his two small daughters and wife will be happy. They did not ask me to do this. Mitakuye Oyasin Standing Elk Please call Pam Red Buffalo and maybe ask how you can help with their sundance at 605-286- 3843.
