It's no myth when you live with it
It amazes me that those who claim this to be a myth are not the one's who are living with it. It's easy to say that the hypnotist is leading us into false memories. I have the audio and video tapes of the hypnosis sessions with Dr. Jacobs to prove otherwise. In no way does he lead me to remember anything, unless saying "what happens next? is leading. I am very grateful for people like Dr. Jacobs helping us cope with experiences we don't understand and do not want. You might want to do MORE investigating before you insult us by saying this is some kind of myth. And you may want to be thankful that it's not you living through this.

It's a myth
After having researched and after having believed in the abduction phenomenon for almost a decade, I now firmly believe we are experiencing a contemporary mythological phenomenon rather than the real thing. These widely believed allegations of abduction have taken their place in our collective unconscious, and spout themselves at every opportunity possible, especially during hypnotic regression, which is well known to produce false reports and consequent false memories.
