I believe because I was there
In 1991 I met John Lear through his daughter Jackie and I wasn't a firm beleiver in UFO's. Jackie told me everything she knew including a good place to view the space ships. Many times Jackie and I would see men on the telephone lines outside his house or you would hear strange static and voices on the telephone lines in the house. What really made me a believer was when she showed me homemade video her father had taken of an actual UFO.
One night Jackie and I went out to a place near Alamo, Nevada where her father showed her where to see the ships. It was so unreal I thought she was playing a joke on me. But there it was a full fledged flying saucer.

Lear, We Want Facts Not Fiction
I have trouble believing the stories of aliens eatting human corpses in underground bases. Personally I feel that Mr. Lear has taken the fame and success that his father achieved by establish the Lear jet and destroied it with his wild alien stories. Mr. Lear has quite a wild imagination that has been brought on by living under his father's famous shadow. The Nellis Complex and Area 51 are nothing more than test beds for the Air Forces new toys.

Skepticism
I have read John Lear's claims, and I find myself completely
unable to give them any credibility whatsoever. He presents
no evidence that any of his claims are true aside from
anecdotes which involve people and names I have never heard
of -- most notably, "a guy who worked for the CIA". I must
have hard evidence to believe any of these claims.
