The maintanance of this library is an important contribution to ufology and the other controversial topics we cover. The main problem in paranormal research has been an absence of "memory." In the past, credible research was done but then was forgotten. Certain ufologists were exposed as frauds, but they continued to make the rounds. The aim of this database is to make sure we never forget our existing work and our past mistakes and to build a base for future research.
Although anyone can add or change links on these pages, most people are "surfers," not researchers, and I expect only a handful of people to become regular contributors. Everyone seems willing to offer an opinion on UFOs and other exploratory topics, but only a tiny fraction are motivated to conduct research or assemble meaningful data. I have designed this database with those few people in mind, and I am ready to modify the software and provide additional services to make things easier for these regular contributors. I expect this group to become a de-facto UFO research organization.
Although I am not interested in all the burdens of an organization, I do want to recognize those who make meaningful contributions and provide them with additional powers to modify the database. I am still thinking about ways to do this. In the maintime, I am setting up a small mailing list, Ufomind Techniques. This list will be concerned with technical and editing issues relating to the Ufomind link system. When I fix bugs or provide new software services, I will send out notices on this list, and the list will also be the place to discuss style and location of links.
