And remember that we brought back hundreds and hundreds of ex-Nazis as we
made our way through Germany at the end of WWII.  Most were scientists of
one type or another and some of them were into the weirder human
experimentation.

I think the film is hoax, but I'm 50/50 on whether the body is real of
synthetic.  Your hypothesis is certainly viable in my opinion.
