Dear Bob, Thanks for marking my scorecard! As for Bob Dean? He's a warm and kind-hearted individual whose allegations about his time spent at SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) in Paris, France, are legendary. There are those who question his claims to have seen a COSMIC TOP SECRET briefing document which he alleged contained a wealth of UFO information within, not least former Admiral of the Fleet, the Lord Hill Norton, and best-selling British author and UFO researcher, Timothy Good. Interestingly, it's now a matter of public record that there was such a classification called COSMIC TOP SECRET around in the 60s and still exists today, though the few ex-servicemen people who confirmed its existence were not privy to the data within. I personally spoke with two ex-Royal Navy submariners who told me COSMIC TOP SECRET was used in their radio-ops room. The point I'm making is that Bob Dean's critics insisted at the outset that there was no such classification - Timothy Good, although still firmly convinced that Dean's allegations should be taken with the proverbial pinch of salt, now acknowledges the classification does exist. As with all claims uttered by former military and intelligence personell about UFOs, I would simply say they must be treated with a great deal of cautious scepticism - not least because this group of people more than any other, have sworn allegiance to their sovereign or head of state. I've no doubt that some of these are engaged full-time in the UFO subject; some to monitor civilian activities and others to spread disinformation as and when required to do so. I do have one small but possibly significant snippet of news from my recent 2-week visit to the United States. On Thursday, 23 January, I spoke with Chuck Clarke at the Little A'le Inn in Rachel, Nevada. He revealed that only hours earlier, a USAF official (who Chuck trusts 100%) had spoken with him and revealed he had seen camouflaged hangar doors built into a mountain-side at S4 (Papoose Dry Lake - Area 51). This was the first independent corroboration of sorts that the hangar doors, first mentioned by Bob Lazar back in 1989, may indeed exist. I say 'may' because Chuck's information came by way of a serving USAF official. Nonetheless, it enters the melting pot along with the rest. All the best, Graham W. Birdsall [Editor] UFO Magazine (UK)
