I read the article, and to be totally honest, it does seem
rather slanderous towards Mr. Friedman. Words like "cultist",
and "crackpot" as well as "UFO fanatic Stanton Friedman" were
used. As far as I know Mr. Friedman has never subscribed to the
theory "that the US Government has made a secret pact with
captive aliens" or that aliens have been "in a freezer for 42
years" as well as statements like "Half-baked tales that are
never investigated", "outrageous tripe" and "lunatics" were
used.

While at the same time she refers to herself as "Britans only
professional ufologist". While she may be of the opinion that
North American Ufologists are a motley crew, she should not have
turned this into a character assasination of Stanton.

I really hate to piss on your parade, but put into the same
situation, I would have sued also, only I might not have settled
"out of court" as graciously as Mr. Friedman had. Once such
accusations are made, the damage is done, with or without a
formal apology. I doubt that Mr. Friedman will ever full recover
from the damage done; and the suit itself seems to have brought
even further discredit. I wonder how many of you would have sued
also?

While I feel for Ms. Randles legal problem, protecting one's
self from a libel suit is not a very nice or cheap affair, she
must be careful when her opinions cross the line and become
personal attacks.
