Apology to MW #262 (For August 8, 1998)

Here's _another_ hurdle keeps the saucer folks away. And look
into your HEART before you turn your eyes -- say nay! It's the
bible waving Christian that has nothing good to say. Those that
get all wet eyed, Ollie North like, when they pray, but do their
brothers dirty on a common business day. Those that sing so
sweetly, from their shining crystal pulpits, while the tired and
betrayed are made to pay, wallow in the excess that they've
stolen from the faithful, those who _buy_ into the shallow and
exclusionary play. . .

All the while whining that their persecution's real! They say
it's them that's hounded as they spew the crap they squeal. This
is just a tactic to confuse the way you feel, so their program
can continue -- they can lie and cheat and steal. That's the way
it's always been -- the way they wrote the deal. It makes you
docile and unthreatening -- it makes you glad to bow and kneel.
It makes one abdicate to ignorance, and assume its Christian
seal.

Christians sermonize on UFO's -- conclusions always negative.
They are piloted by demons, and this is more than simply
speculative. Believers should be _stoned_ in Christ, Pat
Robertson's initiative. This they quote from bibles writ
restrictive and prohibitive. What am I supposed to think?  Their
approach's less than sensitive.

The total *mood* and *flavor* is so back woods and inbred. Are
we upwind, green teethed cowards; is imagination dead? The
wheel's uninvented, and we drag our stuff on sleds? We should
look into the light but we'll prefer the dark instead.

We'd be completely in their clutches, but they blew it with
their graft. Humanism flowered 'cause it made for better craft.
Left to churlish Christians we'd be sitting in a draft;
starving, soiled, and miserable, we'd be cold and wet and daft.

Make the same investment! Take your eyes down from the sky!
Follow their example, and ignore what swoops and flies! Do the
same as they do and you'll wither down and die like you never
had an intellect, or the stones to ask them why!

It's them helps hide the saucers -- and they do it with a smirk.
Monumental cowards, they're such feeble sneaks and jerks.
Performing absolutions that they know can never work -- but they
do it with intensity, busy, bright-eyed -- undeterred!

The worst work with passionate intensity while the best have
lost all conviction, to paraphrase Yeats. I regret having to
quote an elitist, but there you have it.

Visit the bottom of the AM dial and treat yourself to some of
the most mindless, effusive, and unreasonable expressions of
hatred imaginable. Additionally, ask what Jesus thinks of an
extraterrestrial hypothesis. They'll answer like they know, but
they'll say it in "tongues," then criticize a lack of  *faith*
for not *buying in* to their shallow, corrosive, and
unintelligible explanation, completely.

I know an educated woman as smart and as talented as can walk
around unaided <g>. She has long been a practitioner of that for
which she "testifies." She is a card carrying Christian,
serious, that is to say not _completely_ arbitrary, or
convenient. She has a sweetness, an even disposition and has
raised, as far as they go <g>, wonderful children. But watch
that sweet countenance twist and snarl into a vicious spitting
mask when her dogma is even gently questioned (that gay people
should be treated as human beings, or that creationism is an
intellectual embarrassment, for example) and then wonder, good
friend and fellow mote, who the devil really is!

I watched a guy make kids cry for eating ice-cream before giving
thanks to baby Jesus. Now, what's _that_ all about?

It's NOT the mistakes _made_ that matters so much, it's the
mistakes _not copped to_ that are the problem. That's why we
reap what we sew, it _matters_ who did what to who, first, and
all our problems are our own damn fault.
