Bob Dean and the other "crackpots" as you call them will always
attract the media (and people) like a magnet.  Why?  Because they
have something "incredible" to offer.  Like "I handled the Top
Secret NATO blah blah UFO assessment which said they were real."
In 1987 Bill Moore was fawned all over by the media when he
released the MJ-12 documents.

Now once all the crackpots  become "old news" the only way they
can stay in the limelight is a recycle of their story, or "new
information" ACC is one giant example of that.

On another bent, look at what gets the most media coverage in
America:  The accidents, crime, and crackpots.  Leading examples
in recent memory  princess Di's accident, OJ trial, and Heavens
gate cult.
