You must understand that Mr. Black is seriously worried about the
"stain" on ufology that comes with supporting unprovable cases.
I'm not surprised. I have been worried, too. In fact, one reason
I went o Gulf BReeze in th first place in Feb.1988 was to see if
it was necessary to try to end the interest of the local media in
it. When I heard that the local TV station was going to do a
documentary in early March 1988 before any investigation had been
completed I was dismayed. There is no doubt that the media
interest and pronouncements of "reality" by several ufologists
early on was premature.
Only after several months of intense investigation was I "forced"
by the data to accept the fact that this couldn' be a hoax by Ed
Walters...... for reason enumerated in the first book (last
chapter) and repeated in part in the newest book (UFOS ARE
REAL....)
SO, yes, I can understand Mr. Black's concern. However..... he
obviously has gone beyond the pale when it comes to voicing that
concern. What th recipients of that open letter don' know is that
it i based on one of several audio tapes h sent me... in which he
has direct treats of lawsuit for perpetuating a hoax. (No such
suit has yet been filed.)
