Dear All, I'm only marginally interested in Roswell but..... .....in a conversation with a colleague the other day, a guy who has done some real research into man-made flying saucers etc., he told me that during his three year long investigation into these he filed several FOIA requests related to important aspects of the Roswell 'incident'. One of these requests, and I don't understand why this has not emerged before, indicated that the whole question of Project Mogul was not actually discussed until June 1947. Under these circumstances I find it difficult to believe that a Mogul balloon was responsible for the events that took place some four weeks later..... The whole Roswell debate seems to be divided between those who support the alien crash-retrieval fantasy and some hard-nosed skeptics who think that UFO sightings are all explainable, or 'debunkable'. I suggest that it is more likely that a prototype aerial device, possibly related to recovered German advanced technology, strayed from its' home within the White Sands Proving Ground and came down in the manner described by some of the witnesses..... Given that a great deal of information relating to German scientists and Operation Paperclip remains buried (some information emerged in the 1980s) then I think that we have another more sensible solution here that has been killed off by opposing belief systems..... Has anybody ever actually filed FOIA requests on these balloons? Tim Matthews, Lancashire UFO Society/British UFO Studies Centre.
