For the record, Miles' last name is JOHNSTON You call it a "gaff" to present a differing viewpoint to an event? I would be curious to know how many have read the actual "The Sheffield Report" written by Max Burns? I have. <snip> > Clarke's research has been on various places on the Internet and > *conclusively* proves that the incident was caused by military > jets illegally breaking the sound barrier, amongst other things. *conclusively*??? I would suggest that you take a look at Max's report and take into consideration the witnesses he has spoken with. I do not believe that Mr. Clarke has questioned a single one of them. He's simply shrugged them off. <snip> > BUFORA have been requested to take a long, hard look at what they > are doing in this instance. Their response? When presented with the sight of BUFORA, > supposedly the UK's foremost UFO research organisation, espousing > uncritcal thinking of this nature, we can only wonder at what > they will print. Once again I take issue. "...Max Burns and his chequered history." ??? What "chequered" history? A fairly recent arrest for being in possession of amphetamines? A man is no longer innocent until proven guilty? It may disappoint you when the charges are dropped. Wait and see. > If you are a BUFORA member, of concerned about serious UFO > research in the UK we urge you to contact a BUFORA official and > voice your concerns about this matter. We suggest the following: <snip> I would rather suggest that you give a man a chance to present his research and then make a decision as to the veracity of it. So far all I've seen is the huffing and puffing and chest expansion of a local journalist in the Sheffield area who, by the way, was FREELY GIVEN the findings of one Max Burns during his research work, who has turned around and publicly harangued and defamed a man's name. I applaud BUFORA for its fairness and sincerely doubt that BUFORA is giving Mr. Burns the floor, just so "he'll go away". If that statement is true, than BUFORA doesn't deserve the attention of serious followers and researchers in the UFO field world-wide and its reputation is severely damaged by such a statement.
