By the way, Toronto UFO Updates is one of >the better UFO mailing lists on the net. >I feel that the response that was issued was in no way an >embarrassment - but an enlightenment into the total lack of >integrity, professionalism, and credibility of some participants >in the UFO community, and how sensationalism is more important to >them, then the actual truth that they claim to be seeking. >If the explanation was so simple - why did it take two weeks for >a response? It would seem that if there was nothing to the book >and it's contents, that the reply issued in response to my >inquiries would have been immediate - but what this two week gap >would lead one to believe that the response took some thinking. >The fact that Michaels and Tom never met, and that the your reply >basically tells me that the book is fiction, makes me wonder how >many more UFO books, reports and sightings are mere fiction or >attempts by persons within the UFO community to gain through >sensationalism and bring attention to their quest. If anything, >the book and those involved - all levels of participation - have >done more to harm the UFO community than anything else... not to >mention the hard work and dedication that many serious, >responsible and professional people have put into credible >research and investigation. Rob...I personally just read Errol's post two days ago. I did not see your origional post. I don't know if you have seen the rebuttle of the book which I wrote as of this message or not. But, I can assure you that much of the material is definitely not so, especially when it comes to quoting details about me and my involvement in ufology. I won't repeat here, what I have previously posted, but hope you read that message and this one as well. >If the statements that J B Michaels said pertaining to Tom are >incorrect, was there - or has there been any legal litigation in >this matter? Tom and I talked about J.B's fictinalizing our characters right after the book came out. We both got a good laugh out of it. We didn't take it seriously. However, I can see your point regarding litigation. I know J.B. and will tell you that it would be easier to just forget it than make a big deal out of it. He is a very hard to catch up to. I have talked to his sister and other members of his family during the past. >I would like to give Tom the opportunity of coming on our show, >to tell our audience his side of the J B Michaels book during the >Carp Incident show and the arrangements can be made by direct >email to me. We have been trying to contact Mr. Michaels to get >his response but without any success. Yes, Tom would make a good guest. He can give you a lot of info about J.B. I suggest you follow up on this. <G> >Embarrassed? No. Proud, because as a journalists we have exposed >some more of the sensationalism and lack of integrity and >credibility that runs within certain sectors of the UFO community >that is causing more damage than the alleged government >conspiracies and cover-ups which are believed to be as real as >the aliens and UFO's they are concealing. Much of the information in the book, which dealt with individuals is pretty much factual. I personally investigated the Long Island SouthHaven Park incident. I talked to at least a half a dozen residents near the park. I did my investigation by phone. I gave J.B. some of my information, including names and phone numbers so he could check it out for himself. I have never talked to Mona Rowe, of Brookhaven Institute. I can't comment on the truthfullness of that info. Keep up the good work Rob. REgards, Mike The fastest way to respond to this message is through the ICQ Network.
