I have not had an opportunity to discover who you are, or why 'many people' would have been expecting, or, as you seem to imply, anxiously awaiting your commentary on the MGS images. It is obvious that you are unqualified or worse yet, unscientific about the process. It is _far_from_clear_ that what we are seeing in these images are natural. And, you will have a hard time getting agreement from the hundreds of researchers that have spotted clear anomalies. To the contrary, there are so many anomalies in these images, it is truly hard to believe that anyone would be able to conclude that all is natural or normal. There are only two possibilities here: 1) What we are seeing are some of the strangest and most interesting geological processes ever encountered or; 2) We are seeing the remnants of a several hundred thousand to several million year-old civilization. Either way, it is extremely interesting research. There are so many fields of specialty required to properly analyze what we may have here (geology, planetary science, astronomy, image analysis and process, telecommunications, philosophy, history, archeology, etc., etc.) that it would be impossible to print the complete and true story in anything less than years. And, all of this wonderful science has to be performed in an environment of ridicule, non-cooperation, snap judgements and disinformation. Science is not an overnight process, or even a two week process. Analyzing these images is going to take considerable time and effort. This is partially because the image quality is so poor compared to what we got and rightly expected. First, the resolution of the images is half of what it could be. This strange truth is fully admitted by Mr. Malin himself. (http://barsoom.msss.com/mars/global_surveyor/camera/images/size_ of_image.html ). Granted, it is much better than any Viking image we have. However, combine the resolution downgrade, the extremely low grey level results, the reduction in image width, the non-release of the wide-angle images of Cydonia taken at the same time, and you can understand why many of us are quite dissatisfied. We will have to spend considerably more time proving any case that might eventually be made for artificiality. Because of this additional time and effort required, there will be a delay in making any real case. Many, obviously including you, will be lost in this ever faster paced environment. The fact is, there are enough anomalies in these images to keep hundreds of researchers busy for many, many months to come. Only those with an agenda will have made any conclusions at this point. Surely no one expected to see highways, shopping malls and amuzement parks littering the terrain at Cydonia. It would appear that we got exactly what we expected (the quality of the images not withstanding) -- highly eroded geological formations OR highly eroded structures scattered about. It is simply not possible to eliminate the artificial hypothesis at this point -- too many questions still need to be answered. I can only hope that, as I suspect, your comments don't mean much to many, and that those truly interested in the inevitable, eventual truth, whichever way it goes, will hang in there and wait for the real science to run its course.
