A couple of years ago, myself and two other Alabama MUFON
officials were returning to Birmingham from the Project Awareness
conference in Mobile. We had a chance to view one of the
triangular craft at very close range.

It was late in the evening, and was just turning dark. We had
been observing a couple of lights high in the sky that were
moving erratically. The lights winked out, then a few minutes
later one of the occupants in our van called our attention to
some lights off to the side, below the tree line. There were
three horizontal lights, a white one in the middle, with a red
light on either side.

At first glance the lights looked like the warning lights on
transmission tower, except that the lights were growing bigger.
The lights turned out to be a dark colored triangular craft that
flew directly over the van at just above treetop level.

Had there just been only this one craft, I would have questioned
myself as to whether or not I had actually seen such a craft (due
to the darkness), but in this incident there was a small two-
engine propeller airplane chasing the triangle, and very close
behind it. This gave an excellent means of comparison to the
triangle.

The silver color of the airplane was easy to determine. There was
enough light in the area to reflect off of the airplane, but the
triangle remained dark, as though it were not reflecting any
light. I would guess the size of the triangle to be a little
larger than a Lear Jet. We clearly heard the engine noise from
the airplane, but could detect no noise from the triangle.

This encounter lasted only a few seconds as the two craft
continued on beyond the tree line on the other side of the
interstate, but everyone in the van was in agreement as to what
we all had seen.

This sighting was in the Ft. Deposit area, just to the south of
Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama. After a follow-up
investigation I was able to determine that the triangular craft
had been seen by residents in the area for quite some time, and
was believed to be connected to Maxwell AFB. Another witness came
forward about a year later who told me that what I had seen was a
new type of military reconnaissance aircraft that was being flown
out of several small secluded airfields in the area. An earlier
check with a local police dispatcher had revealed that the local
county airport was currently under control of a military group,
and that local authorities had been informed that special
maneuvers were being held in that area. Two private ultra-light
aircraft were kept at the airport, but supposedly had not been
flown for some time, due to work being done to the runway by this
military group.

I'm no longer with MUFON, but am still investigating these
reports. I don't know if this relates to other sightings of
triangular craft, but this may account for such craft here in
Central Alabama.
