From: ryfyrman91@aol.com (RYFYRMAN91) Date: 1998/05/06 Message-ID: <1998050609353900.FAA21953@ladder03.news.aol.com> Newsgroups: alt.ufo.reports ALERT ALERT ALERT!! This is NOT a joke, or hoax, or rantings of a nutcase! I am a Communications Dispatcher for 911 for a major fire department in Southern California. At approximately 2200hrs, PST, on May 5, 1998, the 911 and business lines begin to light up with calls. Several police agencies in Orange County and South Eastern Los Angeles County reported the same thing, that they were being deluged with calls reference something strange going on. Apparently 1000's were startled by 2 large noises that rattled windows, walls, and in one case reported directly to me, caused a door on the inside of an 8000 sq ft home to vibrate rapidly. I personally took at least 50 phone calls and I asked specific questions as to type of noise, length between noises, physical effects, if any injuries, and anything else. Here is what was reported... 1. Noise description: explosion, thumps, earthquake noise, window rattling noise, "thuds" 2. Space between noises: 100% of calls I received stated at least 5 mins between events. 3. Physical effects: No damage reported/100% of callers stated windows rattled anywhere from a little to violently/Curious common observation by many police dispatchers I called right after the main slew of phone calls died down was that many callers thought that "someone was breaking into their homes"....I find that description particulary strange/One caller stated her dog acted very strange during and after, but due to phone traffic, I was unable to question her further/100% of my callers reported how strange that even though what happened was startling and shocking, that they felt NO MOVEMENT......we confirmed at my Dispatch Center that there was absolutely no seismic activity. We double confirmed that with the Internet keying into Cal Tech. 4. No injuries....although MANY callers were clearly shaken. Emotional voices, raised pitch of voices..... The media picked up on this immediately but offered nothing to the viewing audience (we were watching the NBC affiliate in LA--KNBC). They stated that most likely we were all hearing military exercises coming in from Camp Pendleton and/or Et Toro. I personally called those 2 bases to unlisted emergency numbers that I have access to and was told both times that there was absolutely nothing on their end that caused those noises. Both numbers had people on the phone that knew what they were doing and were EXTREMELY RELIABLE. I posted this to get responses and start discussion. This is NOT A HOAX situation....I have much more better things to do with my time......Thank you very much. I invite all responders to show up......That's cool...... RYAN H.
