Subject: Army releases previously classified 'Secret'

Dear CAUS Subscribers:

In a surprise development, the Army has just released 338 pages
of documents pursuant to the CAUS FOIA lawsuit. In a covering
letter to CAUS, the US Army Intelligence and Security Command
stated: "In response to your civil action.....this office has
been requested by the Department of the Army, Office of General
Counsel, to provide you a copy of the enclosed records.
Although these records are not believed to be responsive to your
request as specified above, they are being provided as a gesture
of cooperation.'

The Army further states: 'although the majority of the records
either mention or are entitled "Flying Saucers," most of that
information concerns the activities of the Horton brothers and
their research and development of a "flying wing" aircraft, which
was referred to by many as a "flying saucer."'

A preliminary review of the documents by CAUS reveals that they
are from the late 40s and early 50s, most were classified
'Secret' and 10 are photocopies of photographs of fragments of
unusual looking artifacts. At this time, CAUS does not believe
these documents had been released previously. CAUS will be
reading each of the documents and will keep its subscribers
informed of the results.
