I'll give you my reasons at the end of the story. I can't stand to cut it... >First, a little story: >There was a man who worked at the Post Office, whose job it was >to search for any envelopes addressed to Santa. He was called a >"Santologist", and when he first started his job, he was asked by >a local newspaper reporter "Do you believe in Santa Claus?" and >he'd answer - "nah...". But, each year, he would be asked to >tell his favorite story about his favorite letter to Santa at the >Post Office Christmas Party. And year after year, children would >come to the Post Office on Christmas, and he'd dress up as Santa >and they'd bring letters to him and he'd read them, as part of >his public duty. By the time he was nearing retirement, after 45 >years, he was so famous at his post office and in his home town, >that all the townspeople threw him a huge bash, presented him >with dozens of gifts, many of them from grown up "children" who'd >sat on his knee during his career, and, it being christmas, the >local postmaster dressed up as Santa and delivered him the gifts >on a Sled. It was a smashing success. When the man was asked by >a local reporter, "So, do you now believe in Santa Claus?" he >answered: "nah...". >The reporter, crestfallen, said "But, after all these years, and >the thousands of children, and searching out all those letters, >and now this, why did you do it?" >To which the man responded, after a few moments: >"Well... It's a living!". >________________________________________________ >What's troubling me, is that none of you "researchers" and >"ufologists" appear to be drawing a salary! >So what are you doing it for? >I really want to know. >Sequan Ok, To tell you the truth, I consider myself a UFO Investigator and Reseacher, because since 1967, I have personally put my feet on the highway, walking into fields, to check out crop circles, mutilated cattle, and reports of sightings from people from Toronto, Canada in the North, to Tampa, Florida in the South. From Sacramento, California to Long Island, New York. I have spent over $3000 a year on phone research since 1987. How many new cars could I have bought with $30,000??? I have talked to the man in the street and the Authors who write books on UFOs. I have shared hours of conversation with such Personalities as: The late Len Stringfield, Cincinnatti, Ohio; Dr. J.Allen Hynek, who contributed much to UFOlogy in his las years, after causing such a stirr in the early days as advisor to the Air Force, with his famous "swamp gas, " analysis. <G> The late Marcell Vogle, the creator of the Floppy Disk as well as having done research into plants reaction to pain experienced by other life forms....He also did the metal analysis in the Billy Meier Case. That is enough name droping. I have traveled over a million miles in my automobiles since 1980, in persuit of answers to the UFO phnenomena...I have been to Albequreque, New Mexico; Rachel, Nevada; Gulf Breeze, Florida; Fyffe, Alabama; Manhatten, Kansas, to talk with Dr. William Fately, who worked on Project Blue Book back in the 1950's and was teaching at Kansas State University at the time... I ran a full time, 24 hour BBS (Bulletin Board System) for MUFON and also carried the FIDO Backbone on it as well. I have over three thousand files dealing with UFOs and Paranormal Material. While I have written several short papers on UFOs and their relation to Mankind, etc., I have not, nor do I want to write a book. It is not important for me to do so. There are enough books out there now, saying the same thing over and over and over again. If I ever write a book, it will be from an origional point of view....It will be from personal experience. And, at this point in time, I have no personal experiences to write about. I don't know if this is the answer you were looking for or not. I don't make a cent from my research. I have always shared it with those whom I know and respect. I lecture from time to time, locally, and I don't charge anything for it. Yet, on several occassions they have given me an honourarium, mainly to cover my travel expenses. Those who know me personally, can tell you anything else they choose. Those who only know me from my posts may not know enough about me to help you. REgardless, this is just a few of the continuing reasons I consider myself a UFO researcher/investigator.
