Welcome to issue number 8.

In this issue I'm going to give you a break from the normal
articles that I've been presenting here, and instead would like
to offer a story called "The Grays - and their Long Journey
Home." The purpose of this story is to present one of the many
possibilities concerning alien life-forms that could be here on
our planet now. Other views will follow in future issues,
hopefully yours also. Please accept this story in the context
that it was written, and I hope that you'll enjoy reading it as
much as I enjoyed writing it.

        Help and Information Needed
       *****************************

I'm looking for anyone that has any information concerning U.S.
Air Force Radar sites that were in operation until about the mid
1980s. These, now closed, Aircraft Control & Warning (AC&W) sites
were replaced by the currently used airborne systems(AWACS). I'm
looking for persons that were stationed at one of these sites, or
even anyone that has any knowledge of one of these sites. Just
knowing the location of any of these sites would be very helpful.

Hi Gang!

Nancy Lawson here -- Alabama MUFON State Section Director and
Field Investigator, Birmingham, Alabama.=A0

It's time for another "MUFON Moment" brought to you by "Our
Gang", MUFON Birmingham.

Our last meeting was held, as usual, at the Pioneer Cafeteria,
Sun. Apr. 26, 1998 at 1:00P.=A0 We had a full house and a full
program to boot.=A0Here's how it went:

After a few announcements and a brief business report we moved
into a discussion of an on-going investigating I've been
conducting -- a Sighting that occurred in the Hueytown/Warrior
River area, Mar.30,'98. Sad but curiously interesting is the fact
that the Sighting occurred only 9 days prior to the devastating
tornadoes that ripped through the same area.=A0(Another phenomenon
in itself.=A0 As some of you may already know, it is not uncommon
to have a Sighting reported just prior to a catastophe of the
"earth nature" type, ie: earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes,
etc.).=A0I asked everyone there, and am asking any of you readers
here, to let me know if you saw anything in or near that area
during March or April of this year, in particular,or any other
time for that matter.=A0 You can contact me through Bob Tidwell's

hear from you on any Sightings or Strangeness that might have
occurred in the Alabama area.)

Next we moved into the discussion of the "ET Presence" that seems
prevalent in our nation and around the world.=A0I presented the
evidence I've acquired over the years--in a very brief way--then
offered, per audio tape recordings, Robert Dean's appearance on
the Art Bell program in which he discloses his knowledge of their
presnce through his many years of military service with NATO.
His "Above Top Secret" clearnace in this aspect of the Service
made him privy to all sorts of interesting phenomena.=A0 Needless
to say, the info can "blow your mind" if you're not aware of such
information. Our group seemed to love it.=A0There was much
interaction from them on this subject.=A0Nearly everyone there had
info to add which made our get-together special and unique, as
always.=A0
=A0
=A0 Our MUFON Birmingham "gang" is really growing in membership and
visitors.=A0We have several that drive from as far away as
Northport, near Tuscaloosa, and Pell City, Al., as well as, many
who drive from the "far away 'burbs".=A0Of course, let's not forget
the "inner-city" folk!!!!!!=A0 They're always in attendance.

We will continue with the "ET Presence" subject during our next
meeting: Sun. May 24,'98, Pioneer Cafeteria. Meeting: promptly
at 2:00p, and social hour between 1:00p and 2:00p.=A0I will present
other experts' evidence in this field with the aid of more audio
recordings and, possibly, a video of such info, as well as, many
little "nuggets" of other interesting stuff!!!

A few weeks ago, I had an opportunity to start investigating a
case that has several elements of strangeness involved. I had
received word that several members of a family in Walker County,
about 45 miles to the Northwest of Birmingham, were experiencing
some very unusual events.

It started about two months ago when the lady of the house
noticed a large shadow passing overhead. Upon looking out of her
livingroom window, she observed an extremely large bird. But this
was no ordinary bird, as it was the size of a small airplane. She
described it as having an extremely long neck and beak, with
large wings that pointed down slightly at the ends. This bird
didn't appear to have any feathers, just a dark leather-like
skin. She watched, fascinated, as this gigantic bird glided down
the hill, over some trees, and out of sight.

She immediately picked up the phone and called her sister, who
lives a short distance away, shouting "a pterodactyl just flew
over my house." Needless to say, her sister had a few comments
concerning her present mental condition. After getting the same
response from yet another relative, she decided to just keep her
observation to herself.

Then, a couple of weeks later, while sitting on her front porch
(a common country practice in this area) with her brother, they
noticed a couple of strange lights just above the far horizon.
They sit outside a good bit, and hadn't noticed these lights
before. The next evening these lights were still there. They
thought that maybe a couple of new radio or cellular towers had
been erected. However, when they decided to look at these lights
through binoculars, they saw that these lights were not standing
still, which is why they appeared to be so strange at a distance.
They were observed to be moving up and down, or back and forth at
times. They continued to observe these strange lights off and on
for a couple of weeks.

The final act of strangeness occurred shortly afterwards when
they discovered that their two peahens had disappeared from a
totally enclosed pen. The male peacock was still inside, unhurt,
but the female peahens were gone. Their feathers were lying just
outside of the pen, with no blood on them, or on the ground. As
search of the area showed no sign of animal tracks or additional
feathers other than the ones that were found just outside of the
pen. There was also no signs of forced entry anywhere on the
sides or top of the pen.

Their house is on top of the highest hill in this secluded rural
setting, and no hang gliders or sailplanes have ever been seen in
this area.

I know that you're thinking "Bob, are you really taking these
people seriously?" The answer to that is yes. For you see, I know
the character of these folks very well, as they happen to be my
Aunt and Uncle.

I'll let you know if anything else strange occurs in this area.
