OH puh-leeze! You have proof of this? Proof that will settle the issue once and for all? The _only_ reason, I would like to to see the term ufologist and ufology retired is because those mere terms imply something that is not there, IMO. Some folks (including me, at one time) think that someone calling themselves a ufologist might actually _know_ what they are talking about. The only reason I can see for retiring the terms would be dissociate from the some of the people who make claims that are not supported by evidence. A lot of baggage comes with the words ufology and ufologist. I don't like carrying around all that baggage. [...] > I suggest a movement toward "extraterrestrial phenomena > research(ers)". Every time we use the words "UFOlogy or > UFOlogist" we put a lie to the state of the field and implant it > in the subconscious of the general public. You are absolutely right -- every time I have referred to myself as being interested in UFOs to the general public, these people actually think I believe UFOs are ET craft, that the alien autopsy is real and that ET creates crop circles and so on. That's the baggage I'd like to be rid of. Rebecca
