There was a time when the US government seemed obsessed with
'burrowing'.

For instance, I used to work three floors down underground in
the Pentagon... It was _so_secure_ there that I could leave Top
Secret documents on the desk and go to lunch! There were so many
security cameras in place that this was _not_ a problem.

I have been in a number of other subterranean tunnels under
military bases that are never identified.

Some are pictured -- like we were at Vandenberg AFB last
week-end for a conference. Their base brochures picture some of
the Titan missile support 'railroads' that run underground
there.

Some of these actually are quite old -- our old coast artillery
bases dating back to WWI -- like Fort MacArthur in LA and Fort
Hamilton in Brooklyn -- had honeycombs of tunnels under them.
Quite useful.

I used to teach in an underground classroom at Fort MacArthur!
So that is NOT a NEW idea!
