Steve,

As editor and writer for major photography magazines I have
always insisted that the term "film", whether noun or verb, not
be used when referring to video. I think using it in that way is
improper and only leads to confusion like this.

When using a video camera you are "shooting video", "video
taping", or maybe just "videoing", but you are not filming.

Similarly, a person who does this is a videographer, not a
cinematographer. I suppose both could be called "cameraman",
since a camera is involved in both cases.
