Tsk, tsk. It would appear Arnold mis-spoke in the heat of the
early interviews.

Or, we can always appeal to the Skeptical Solution when
confronted with _major_ inconsistency :) by a UFO witness (a
type of person who is often inconsistent, in error, poor recall,
etc.). Namely we can propose that Arnold _didn't_ time them at
all or if he did, he got the timing all wrong (like he was off
by a minute or more)

Hence they could have been fast airplanes 6 miles away - Hynek,
atmospheric phenomena - Menzel, geese or pelicans - Kottmeyer
Easton and the ornithologists,  or even meteors - Klass and Keay
Davidson in 1997)
