Hi Greg.

There are a few UFO books which I enjoy reading over and over
again (eg. Dr. Paul R. Hill's "Unconventional Flying Objects")
while there are many more UFO books which I had to make a
special effort to read through just once (eg. Michael Wolf's
"The Catchers of Heaven"). William Steinman's book "UFO Crash
at Aztec" (with contributions from Wendelle Stevens) is in my
former group of UFO books.

Considering the hundreds of new UFO books (including many old ones
back in print), weight for weight, few are as fact filled as "UFO
Crash at Aztec". There are many facts about UFOs and ufology as
well as new leads for further research that I have found in this
book (most not even directly related to Aztec). This is why I
said it was an excellent UFO book, even without an index.

As for proving that a UFO did crash at Aztec, I was a skeptic
before reading William Steinman book and was still a skeptic
afterwards - but a much more sympathetic one.

There are an awful lot of other UFO books out there that are
just plain awful. Many of these I would include in the
"unintentional UFO comedy" or even the "unintentional UFO joke"
category but I do not want to mention which ones they are, here.
These UFO books of dubious value seem to have taken over most of
the shelf space in the UFO section of my favourite bookstores
that I sometimes feel embarrassed when I'm seen browsing there.

I regret there are not a lot more UFO researchers like William
Steinman writing UFO books instead of the many new authors who
are little more than UFO story tellers and who have little new
material or insights to contribute in ufology.
