It's called >"Keeping Secrets". It isn't titled "Public Acknowledgement of >Wrong Doing by the Government". <snip> >Is it really your contention that the US Government never does >anything illegal, never breaks laws, has never had anyone >silenced simply because "known policy" says otherwise? Do you >really believe that the government even bothers to make all of >its policies known to the public? Or that they would publicly >acknowledge hurting anyone one, if not forced to? Do you really >believe everything the Government tells you? <snip> Where do you think the term "clandestine operations" comes from? <snip> Roger, Jim: Good rant, Roger. I even agree with some of it. But Jim Mortellaro wasn't talking about clandestine operations. If he was, he goofed badly by telling us about it, didn't he? He would be revealing secret information about security procedures, right? I'm assuming here that he is still with us, unless he has secretly suffered "corporeal" punishment or died a secret painful death for mistakenly revealing this information to the world via his posting. I am being somewhat facetious, here, Roger. But, seriously, does Jim want us to believe that there is a policy to kill or use corporal punishment with employees or contractors working on top secret defense work? We're not talking about NAZI slave labor camps, here. He obviously wasn't talking about some off the books Iran Contra sort of operation, but a major defense project. And we aren't talking about 1950s nuclear tests or what possibly has or might happen somewhere, someplace, sometime. We're talking about Jim Mortallero's claim about standard security measures in use where he worked as a civilian. I asked him for one, single documented case where such measures have been used. Somewhere, someplace there must be an example. He doesn't have to reveal any more top secrets, just point us to, say, a newspaper article from a reputable source like the New York Times, etc., which has reported such an incident. In fact, his claim is pure B.S., thrown in just to make the naive think that he knows more about what he is talking about than he does, or perhaps just to inflate the importance of his background. This kind of stuff gets flung around all the time by figures in UFOlogy claiming special inside knowledge. I'm just asking Jim to document his claim. I don't believe that he can. Clear skies, Bob Young
