Dear Ms. Randles, Mr. Clark: I am fairly new to this list and this is my first post. I have been lingering in the shadows of these many conversations, listening to researchers and skeptics alike opine about me and people like me - abductees. I have found this thread between the two of you to be very interesting. I cannot say that I am familiar with the experiences of many other abductees. I do not have a pool of testimonies from which to evaluate and form an opinion. I have only the experiences of myself and my family to draw upon. I have been investigating my involvement in this phenomenon for the past six years. I have undergone thirty-five hypnotic regressions, and countless days and nights of contemplation in an attempt to make some sense of what has been happening to me and my children. I would like to comment, Ms. Randles, on your view that "the form that an entity takes during an account is a product of the mental images in a persons consciousness." Seven years ago my son, who at the time was six years old, came running into my bedroom on an early Saturday morning. He was a bundle of anxiety, his little hands shaking and his brow sweating as he attempted to tell me what had him so frightened. He spoke of two "weird things" that had come into his bedroom. They were gray in color, had very large heads, skinny bodies, and great big, black eyes. There was a tall one and a smaller one. The tall one seemed like a "doctor" while the smaller one seemed kind of "not as smart." The child told me of how these beings looked deep into his eyes and, upon doing so, the child could no longer move. My son spoke more of the event. I then asked him to draw a picture of the figures he had seen. The child produced a pencil sketch of what is seen today as your "typical" greys, one tall one and one short one. This child knew nothing of Budd Hopkins, abductions, or little gray men. He had not read "Intruders". At this time there was no "Sightings" TV show. There was no possible means that could even allude to media contamination. I can say quite confidently that the child had no alien "mental images" prior to this event in his "consciousness". In all aspects, the child was unblemished. He did not perceive something to be something because of something. What he saw was real. Mr. Clark, I would like to thank you for your obvious empathy for people who have such experiences as do I and my family. Your consideration of the experient is as a breath of fresh air. Best regards, Allison Reed
