1- THE STATUS OF THE PLANETARY MYSTERIES OVERHAUL:
Planetary Mysteries is not financed by any large company or
researcher. It is basically a labor of love, my way of sharing
valuable information that otherwise would be hard to find.
Recently I found it hard to keep up with the rigorous demands of
my art, family and maintain the web site. I was grateful when
Christie Minami, graciously volunteered to become the webmaster
for Planetary Mysteries. She is a pleasure to work with and has
been devoting considerable amount of time without pay and a
"thank you" as her only compensation.
Our first task was to get PM functioning more smoothly, towards
this end Christie put up a search engine. Next, she helped me
organize my email list from the past 3 years. PM also now has a
Guestbook. Please feel free to sign it!
In the works now is the updating of links (a massive list). PS:
One new link message received in the last 3 days was lost in a
computer crash...please resubmit if you think it was yours.
There is a lot of wonderful material we will be posting soon.
First on our list is to get caught up with Egyptnews postings
and then other articles that have been accumulating, including a
great one on crop circles.

2 - NEW FACES ON MARS CONTROVERSY:

Is this part of a deliberate disinformation campaign by NASA to
discredit the original Face?
The association of this kind of fantasy image (or Sagan's
"Christ in the tortilla" image) with the word "FACE" has done a
lot to hurt any serious investigation by using ridicule to ward
off competent researchers and public interest from Cydonia.
SECOND FACE ON MARS?
Mr. Terry James has been researching NASA Mars photos for the
past five years. He believes he discovered the second face
anomaly on April 7th 1999.

While I admire Terry's enthusiasm (I posted some of his
material), I have examined several images including: "cover-ups"
on the Yogi rock and large crafts on the moon, none which could
be verified by analysis and some that seemed blatantly like a
hoax (not saying that Terry originated those...but believed
them). In previous postings there appears to be a genuine anger
toward NASA that clouds his judgment. If he could keep a more
objective attitude, his investigative energies and talents could
prove very fruitful.
We have had some dialogue and in one of my previous messages to Terry
regarding the twin peaks, I stated:
"though your composite is interesting and EVEN ARTISTIC, you
have cropped so much that you have distorted the actual
features, what is insubstantial on paper has an awesome scale in
real life, it's like redesigning someone's skull under their
skin. This weakens our position. This data is so obviously
manipulated that it can't be believed. The tragedy is that this
biased work discredits the careful work of years research by
the very people you applaud,...."
Terry's second face on mars:
While I see the appearance of a face, I am not convinced. I have
spent that last 15 years looking at Cydonia and studying it.
That it resembles a face is not enough, other elements are
required to substantiate the new face claim.
As an artist, I know the creative eye can create convincing
images in the mind from looking at random patterns anywhere...I
myself have drawn many of these figures that I see on stucco
patterns on walls, clouds and the wings of moths. I have seen
entire panoramas peopled with highly detailed figures.
To substantiate the new face claim, one must consider the
context of the data:
1- the consistency in style as well as geometry.
2- the scale
3- surrounding structures
4- the bias of the researcher
This new image is very different than the original face, as far
apart as Egyptian art from the renaissance. Certainly there is
room to imagine the evolution of art on Mars, could it however,
be from the same era or expressed on the same physical scale?
What set the original face apart is the geometry of the face
itself and its surrounding structures. There is within the
original face enough geometry to make a case that it is
artificial even if it is not a face. In this "new face", the
style is like a fluid dance, rather than the stoic gaze of the
original face, and very difficult to determine any geometry.
Perhaps surrounding structures will be found to support its
claim to fame.
THE VALIDITY OF THE NEW MGS IMAGE:
When the new MGS image came out, looking at that first TV news
clip, no one could have been more devastated than I. I had spent
14 years sculpting what appeared to be a "catbox".
Here at Planetary Mysteries, I receive a lot of email suggesting
that maybe NASA blew the face up. To protect my 14 years of
work, it would be easier to agree them. However, only the truth
will have an impact on our collective future.
So I set about evaluating the new MGS data to determine if in
fact it could be the same original structure photographed by the
Viking. After a year of sculpting I have actually incorporated
the new MGS data into my mars face sculpture (which I will soon
be posting images of). While I abhor the lack of professional
regimen of NASA's part to distribute to the media and post a
manipulated gray-scale of the MGS, I can demonstrate that NASA
did indeed photograph the Face and that the MGS is the same
structure as the early Viking images
No one will know the mystery of the faces till we go there; and
even then, the debate could continue for years as it has with
the Earth Mounds or Bimini.

3 - EARTH LIFE FROM MARS:
Fox News reported on a breaking story from Stanford, California.
Sunday night, May 9th, the 10:30 PM (the bay area, CA.), John
Fowler, on the Fox news, did a segment on "Life from Mars".
PRO: Richard Zare a chemist at Standford, has released new data
concerning the asteroids.
Seth Shostak from SETI said the Universe is ripe with life and
that probably earth life originated from Mars. Although, it is
suggested that life came to Earth from Mars in microbes, the
basic conclusion agrees with Hoagland, that life on earth may
have originated on Mars.
Seb Gillette said that within a decade NASA would be sending
root missions to Mars.
NASA's data indicates that there was water about 300 billion
years ago on Mars to support life.
CON: UCLA Paleontologist William Schoof, totally against the idea.

4 - AOPR UPDATE:
The AOPR (Americans for Open Planetary Research) will be
attending JPL's Open House June 5-6 in Pasadena, California.
Unlike last year in protest, but this time to meet with a small
group of flight engineers (we met during our rally) who
volunteered many extra hours to help get last years images of
Cydonia. We recognize that these individuals acted in good faith
and are not responsible for policies set by NASA headquarters.
We will be presenting to them honorary plaques bearing a
miniature Mars Face medallion on them. Our secondary objective
is to share with them many of the unusual features found in that

5- THE CAUS UFO LAWSUIT:
Message from the CAUS Director, attorney Peter A. Gersten,
regarding UFO Lawsuit:
CAUS is now also interested in obtaining affidavits from persons
who have experienced what is referred to as an 'alien
abduction.'

CAUS in COURT
1) CAUS v. Department of Army (documents based upon statements
by Col. [DEC] Philip Corso about seeing alien bodies and alien
autopsy reports).
On April 26th, Justice Roslyn O. Silver granted the government's
Motion for Summary Judgment and dismissed the CAUS lawsuit,
without opinion, against the Department of Army. The dismissal
was expected in light of last week's decision by the Judge to
deny CAUS the opportunity to orally argue its opposition to the
motion for dismissal. CAUS will not be appealing the dismissal.
2) CAUS v. Department of Defense (information about the
triangular shaped UFOs)
A preliminary pretrial conference has been scheduled for June
14th. CAUS will, prior to that date, attempt to subpoena the
heads of the Joint Staff and the Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency (DARPA) for deposition purposes. The US
Attorney representing the DOD has informed CAUS that it will
oppose such an attempt.
