Quite simply, prior to Hynek leaving his position as civilian
consultant to Project Blue Book, Hynek was a "company man." He
incurred the wrath of Dr. James McDonald because of his timid
stance with numerous Air Force explanations, which people like
McDonald knew to be hogwash. Hynek was receiving about $5,000.00
per year from the Air Force, which was no small change in the
60's. Even years later after Hynek "switched sides" he was timid
and went out of his way to not make waves. As an example, during
the Hudson Valley sightings events, prior to his death, Hynek
would not entertain allowing Phil Imbrogno or Pratt to release
some of the more bizarre information they were collecting during
their long investigation. A lot of people think Hynek was a
great investigator, and he may have been a fine astronomer, but
I think he did a disservice to overall UFO research. I know a
lot of people will take umbrage at this, but if pushed I will
give some damning examples.

Hello Bill. Actually that is Dr. James McDonald. Now there was a
truely great man, and was viciously attacked for his open
scientific courage.
