Apology to MW #305 (For May 29, 1999)

So *comment* regarding the _twist_ of my ravings, or let the
_reader_ make her choice! Let the _reader_ read the work and she
might hear my real voice . . . Trouble with the _meaty_ words
real readers use as _paint_? It's easy now to find them, but
_understanding_ makes you faint. E-lectronic fingers and a word
is _quick_ to find. And meaning is a thunderclap that blows the
startled mind. Don't call it ostentatious, that inflation that
you see is packed with hungry muscle of a mean solidity.

I have a MIND I have _discovered_, and what MATTERs most to me
is the efficacious MOVEMENT that I sense must _surely_ be.
Matter is the stuff we make,  contrived reality. It withers as
we watch it so they make more -- don't you see. Movement is the
time you _take_ to get from here to there, it *vibrates* with
intensity -- makes _room_ for things, mon frere! All of this
considered by the ever present mind, one makes evaluation of the
things that one may find.

And therein lies the problem if we make, then, disappear, ideas,
books, or people in our search for things to fear. We find we're
_watching_ fearfully those things that we have made, forgetting
we have made them from the debts that we don't pay! And things
you watch for changes are a different kind of thing than the
thing unwatched for changes -- it's the _watching_ that's the
thing. Condemned, the saucer hunter, or your garden abductee;
condemned, the honest searcher that might search for what he
sees! But leave the wolves right in your midst, and worship
sullen lawyers, who complicate the issue when they charge you
like destroyers. Pay to trust your doctor who would turn his
eyes away as brother doctors _pillage_ us for help they're sworn
to pay. Trust the men in blue too much to keep an easy peace,
and find they are too powerful -- watch tyranny increase.  We'd
wish for _easy_ answers at the _bottom_ dollar price. We want to
have our morals, but we want to keep our vice. We want to keep
our fortunes, strike the homeless from our sight,  _quibble_ on
the holocaust, and over NOTHING, fight.

Do you understand the problem? Do you want another hint? I'd use
a verbal brickbat though it sting a little bit. Life's a
different kind of banquet, and you reap what you have sown. You
sow your seeds in air my friend; then away they've surly flown.
Here's a simple tidbit, and you'll find no barb or hook, but if
_you_ expect to find some _thing_, then first you have to LOOK.

We don't look. _I_ do, you _might_ -- but _we_ don't. Don't
pretend that we do. It only increases the eventual humiliation.
Besides, whatever it is, it won't be anything like _you_ thought
it would be, get ready for that. It won't be found in prescribed
literature of _any_ stripe. It won't be found in the
editorialization, the submission, or the silencing of the
uncomfortable idea. Rather -- consider what makes the idea
uncomfortable. Your *conviction* regarding _any_ matter may be
specious nonsense. Maybe. You'll never  _know_ but for the
exposure to it.

. . . Just one more way to lift the veils from UFO's.
